Moon Geung Young took home the Daesang (Grand Prize) at the 2008 SBS Drama Awards for her role in Painter of the Wind. It’s nice to see her being being honored for her hard work (or whatever it maybe). Because as you know these year-end award shows from SBS, KSB, & MBC – the system is too flawed to warrant much credibility. Nevertheless, it’s still a nice award that has its benefits… Moon Geun Young can now graduate from Korea little sister to ‘big sister’. Congrats!
Here’s what we thought of her performance in Painter of the Wind…
Moon Geun Young’s performance as Shin Yun Bok is to the dot in maintain her Shin Yun Bok’s essence to the end in her presence & vocals delivery. I presume she will continue her Korean Literature major back to Sungkyunkwan University. Although it is only just 20 episode but it is the drama all well top the charts – Jackie
Moon Geun Young is a star! Remember Autumn Tales, even then she has shown an exceptional talent for drama – it’s a talent she owns, no doubt about that. In Painter, she brings a lot of consistency in her performance – playing a male character, she depicted the tones and body language every well. Painter of the Wind is definitely her break out vehicle to the drama world. Previously she had done dramas, but only supporting roles. – Anne

You can’t imagine how exciting I and some other fans in Vietnam to wait for the result of SBS awards last nite being updated in Soompi. We had waited from 11pm to 1am to see the first pictures and news about the awards of MCW, MGY. So wonderful that MGY and MCW won Best Couple award and of course the best is the Daesang for MGY! She deserves it most! Hurray!
Yes, she’s really a good actress but why is she so thin now? I don’t think it suits her. Anyhow. she’s still my favorite.
